Melancholic little dolls by Mahlimae

Nicole Watt (Mahlimae) is an artist from Southern Tasmania (Australia) with an extraordinary talent in giving birth to odd little creatures.

Inspired by old myths and ancient folklore, Nicole creates simple adorable dolls with peculiar and intense expressions. Her ability to give her dolls such melancholic looks, omitting many typical indicators of expression (eyebrows, mouth) and working primarily on the eyes is simply stunning.
Working on her art only on free time, Nicole creates small collections on dolls that go sold out on her Etsy shop in a blink of an eye.

Mahlimae has been featured on Beatiful Bizarre Magazine (Issue 8) and has already several expositions scheduled in 2015.
I am very happy that one day, Nicole decided to create some textile dolls as gifts for friends (that’s where all started) and I can’t wait to see how she will go on her magic art journey.
As usual check the examples here and be sure to head to Mahlimae official site for more.
