Modern martyrs by Dario Puggioni

Dario Puggioni

Dario Puggioni, born in Seria Brunei (Borneo, Indonesia) and graduated at Accademia delle Belle Arti in Rome, lives now in Berlin, a city he found perfect for his art: painting.
His paints, made by applying several layers of different materials (paper, copper, oil paint) one above the other so to create highly tactile surfaces that appear to be peeled off and ruined, are dark and severe. The subjects could be modern martyrs or saints depicted in constrict positions with contracted nerves and skin.
And it’s particularly the skin that plays a big role on recent Dario’s works: crumbled, scratched modeled in protuberances that seem to want to escape from the subject’s face or head.
Dario Puggioni’s works are emotive, strong and obscure; I’m sure you’ll love them. Check some examples here and look for more of his art here.

Fabio Selvatici

Fabio Selvatici

Fabio approached graphic design at a young age and, after working on related fields for some years, recently decided to focus more on personal fine art projects. The results are stunningly beautiful female body pictures; bodies partially covered and melted with fine and elegant grungy details, textures and ink stains. Fabio uses both digital and traditional mediums, mixing them to eventually achieve amazing dark pieces.

I honestly hope his work will gain more and more visibility, his talent is evident on all images present on his online portfolio and I am therefore sure you will appreciate the examples below.

Distorted female portraits by Nuestra / Januz Miralles

nuestra

Fine artist Januz Miralles from Philippines creates distorted female portraits mixing photography with drawing and painting tecniques. The result is a perfect blend of ethereal beauty (the woman body) and dark substance (paint strokes/ink drips). The use of mainly neutral tones (although some vivid reds could sometimes surprise the viewer) gives Miralles’ art a pleasently obscure feeling you’ll love.
I remember reading an interview where the artist declared that all the women images on his art are inspired by his mother. We should all thank Januz’ mother for giving birth to a great artist and for inspiring him to create such beautiful art.
